How to use it
- Enter the network name and password exactly.
- Choose the security type.
- Download the code and print it.
Good to know
The code is created in your browser, so your password is never sent anywhere. Anyone who can see the code can join, however, so keep it out of public view unless the network is meant for guests.
If you change your Wi-Fi password, you will need a new code.
Printing a code that scans first time
- Print it at least 3 cm wide, and larger if people will scan it from a distance.
- Keep the white border around the code.
- Print on matte paper, or place it where glass will not reflect light.
- Scan your printed copy with an iPhone and an Android phone before putting it up.
Which security option to pick
| Router setting | Choose |
|---|---|
| WPA2, WPA3 or mixed | WPA / WPA2 / WPA3 |
| Old WEP network | WEP |
| Open network | No password |
Keep your main network safe
The code contains your password in readable form, and any QR app can reveal it. For a café or a rental, create a guest network on your router and make the code for that one. If the code ever stops working, check whether the name or password has changed. Tick the hidden network box if your router does not broadcast its name.
Questions
Do phones need an app?
Current iPhones and Android phones can scan these with the camera.
It won't connect. Why?
Names and passwords are case sensitive, so check for typos and trailing spaces.
