How to use it

  1. Click the box to start.
  2. Wait for red to change to green, then click right away.
  3. Finish five rounds to get your average.

Good to know

Your screen and input device add delay. On an average setup, that might be 30 to 60 ms of your score, so compare results on the same device.

Clicking too early cancels the round.

What affects your number

FactorEffect
A 60 Hz screenUp to about 17 ms of waiting per frame
Wireless mouse or touch screenOften a little more delay
Tiredness or alcoholNoticeably slower
Warming upUsually a few ms faster

How the test stays fair

The green light appears after a random wait of about 1.2 to 4.2 seconds, so you cannot learn the rhythm. Clicking early cancels that attempt without recording it. The clock starts when the page changes colour, and your press is registered the moment the button goes down, not when it is released.

Getting a reliable result

  • Use the Average over five rounds, as one lucky round means little.
  • Rest your finger on the button instead of hovering above it.
  • Close other programs, which can add delay.
  • Compare results only on the same device and screen.
