DNG to JPG
A DNG file will not open in most viewers or upload forms. This tool gets you a normal JPG without needing a RAW editor.

How to use it
- Add your .dng files. NEF and ARW also work.
- The tool finds the largest JPG stored inside each file.
- Download the result.
Good to know
RAW files carry a ready-made JPG preview, and this tool extracts that image rather than developing the RAW data. It reflects the camera's processing and you cannot adjust exposure.
Preview size depends on the device. Cameras usually embed a large one, whereas some phones embed only a small one.
What you actually get
A RAW file holds sensor data plus a JPG preview made by the device. This tool reads DNG, CR2, NEF and ARW files, finds the largest preview inside, and saves it at the quality you set. It does not develop the RAW data, so you get the look the camera or app gave it.
Extract or develop?
| Extracting is enough | Use a RAW editor |
|---|---|
| Quick previews for a client | Recovering blown highlights |
| Sharing a few shots | Changing white balance |
| Checking what is on a card | Printing large |
Things to watch for
- Phones often embed a small preview, so a phone DNG may come out at low resolution.
- A vertical shot can come out sideways, because rotation is stored separately. Turn it in any photo viewer.
- If the file has no embedded JPG, the tool tells you and there is nothing to extract.
Questions
Why is my JPG smaller than the sensor resolution?
The embedded preview was saved at that size by your device.
When do I need real RAW software?
When you want to recover highlights, change white balance or get the most out of the sensor.
