Loading tool…
How to use it
- Drop in your .cr2 files.
- The full-size JPG stored in each RAW file is extracted.
- Download them one by one or as a ZIP.
Good to know
Canon cameras embed a full-resolution JPG in each CR2, so the result is sized for real use. Picture style and white balance are those set in the camera when you shot.
CR3, the format used by newer Canon models, is built differently and is not supported here.
Why the result looks like the camera's JPG
Each CR2 holds a full-resolution JPG rendered by the camera, using the Picture Style, white balance and sharpening set when you pressed the shutter. This tool takes that image, so colours match the back of your camera. For delivery, set the quality to 95% or more, since the picture is saved again.
Which Canon cameras does this fit?
CR2 was the standard Canon RAW format for many years. Newer bodies, starting around 2018 with models such as the EOS M50, use CR3, which has a different structure and is not supported here. Check the file extension before you start.
Practical notes
- Vertical shots can come out sideways, because the rotation is stored separately from the preview.
- Each file is read in full, so large batches work better on a computer.
- Your CR2 files are not changed, and nothing is uploaded.
Questions
Is this as good as Lightroom?
For a quick delivery it is close, since it is Canon's own in-camera rendering. For serious editing, use a RAW developer.
Are my originals changed?
No. Your CR2 files are only read.
